We pride ourselves on hosting the best Brewery and Distillery tours in the Northern Rivers. Behind The Barrel was born from our love of craft beer and spirits, and tours. Blending these two industries together was our way to share our passion, and indulge in the best of both worlds.
Because so many awesome people want to embark on our tours, we tend to get a lot of questions. So today we’d like to answer some of your burning questions about our tours so that when you book a tour with us, you can sit back, relax and enjoy the experience.
Our tours will take you behind the scenes at some of the best breweries and distilleries our beautiful area offers. From homegrown Byron Bay Brewery tours in the centre of town to Husk Distillers’ family farm turned Distillery in Tumbulgum, you’ll get a taste of the little slice of heaven we call the craft beer and spirits industry. It’s not just about the beer and spirits though. You’ll get a chance to see some of the hidden gems of the lush natural landscape of the Northern Rivers in between locations.

What is the difference between a brewery and a distillery?
A brewery crafts beer, whereas a distillery creates spirits.
Can I book one seat on the bus?
Absolutely! Our mixed group tours offer this option, and are a great way to meet new people!
What if I’m not a fan of beer? Or am gluten intolerant?
All of the venues we visit offer alternative options such as wine, seltzer or ginger beer. Additionally, some breweries offer gluten-free beer. Our lunch options include a variety of gluten-free options.
Can non-drinkers still come on tour?
Of course! We offer a discounted rate for those who do not drink who attend our tour, alongside lunch and non-alcoholic drinks such as mocktails, Kombucha and soft drinks, on our full-day tour.
I have an upcoming event (birthday, bucks, corporate tour) do you offer private tours?
Yes. We have no limit on how many people we can take on private tours. We take more than 50+ people. We can also customise the tour to suit your needs. See our custom tour page for options.
